How to Identify Your Forklift Tire Size in 60 Seconds (Cushion / Press-On)

How to Identify Your Forklift Tire Size in 60 Seconds (Cushion / Press-On)

If you need cushion / press-on solid forklift tires, you can usually identify the tire size in about a minute.

The fastest method is simple:

  • Find the size printed on the tire sidewall
  • Take a clear photo
  • Send it in so we can confirm fitment

60-second method (step-by-step)

Step 1: Confirm you're looking at a cushion / press-on tire

Cushion / press-on solid tires are most common on warehouse forklifts that run on smooth concrete.

If you're not sure what you have, take a photo of the full forklift and the tire and we'll confirm.

Step 2: Look for the size on the sidewall

Most cushion tires have the size molded or printed on the sidewall.

Common examples look like:

  • 21 x 7 x 15
  • 21 x 8 x 15
  • 16.25 x 6 x 11.25
  • 18 x 6 x 12.125
  • 18 x 7 x 12.125
  • 16 x 6 x 10.5

Step 3: Take the right photo (so we can quote fast)

To quote tires, we typically only need:

  • A clear photo of the tire sidewall where the size is shown

Tips so the photo works the first time:

  • Wipe the sidewall if it's dusty
  • Get the numbers in focus
  • Take the photo straight-on (not at an angle)

Step 4: If the sidewall is worn off, use the data plate

Sometimes the tire is worn down past where it should be replaced, and the size is no longer readable.

If that happens, send:

  • A photo of the forklift
  • A readable photo of the data plate
  • The make, model, and serial number (if available)

This lets us find the year and the correct manual to confirm the correct tire setup.

Step 5: If you have multiple units, include serial numbers

If you have more than one forklift of the same model, serial numbers help us keep everything straight and avoid ordering the wrong tires for the wrong unit.

The only time this gets tricky

Identifying tire size is usually straightforward.

The only time issues come up is when:

  • The previous tires were incorrect, or
  • The forklift has wheel, hub, or axle damage that affects fitment

That's why we recommend confirming with the data plate when possible.
